Girls Night Out!

We had a great Friday night this last week. I had 7 women from my old ward come visit. They were celebrating a birthday for one of the gals, and wanted to get away for a day or two. It was so great having them all here. We stayed up late on Friday night playing games and visiting, then got up the next morning to a scrumptious Creme Brulee French Toast that Marcy made for us. Of course the time would not be complete without a fun activity, also by Marcy, where we each had a piece of paper with our names on it, we passed it to the left and everyone got to right something that they like about that person. It kept going until everyone got to write something about everyone else. It was awesome. What a boost to your self-esteem, to hear things from people that you normally wouldn't hear, and to say things about people that you have admired about them but never told them. After some picture taking by our photographer, Ryan, we headed into Prescott (Pres cut) for some window shopping and lunch.

OUCH!

The day after Brennan's birthday we went to Ryan's office for lunch, and while we were there, Brennan started to play with the universal gym in the back of the office. We noticed what he was doing, so we responsibly set the weights to the highest weight, knowing that there was no way Brennan could lift it. Peyton, observantly watched us move the pin to the heaviest weight, and noticing that Brennan was no longer able to lift the weight she assisted Brennan by pulling the pin out and long story short, the weights were set to 20 lbs. Brennan lifted and Peyton put her fingers on the weight plates, then Brennan let go. Poor Peyton had her index and middle fingers crushed by the 20 lb plate. 3 adults in the room, but nobody noticed what was going on. We scrambled over there, blood everywhere and Peyton screaming. Brennan took off to the bathroom where we later found him sitting in the corner. He was devastated, he felt so bad he just sat there until Ryan came looking for him.
Peyton fractured both fingers, right at the tips, she will probably lose both fingernails. They will grow back, however. The hand specialist said that the best thing to do is put some band aids on them and let them heal. We have to go back in to see him in a few weeks. They are looking much better now and she is actually using them a little more each day. We were blessed that it was such a minor injury seeing as though it could have been much worse.

Brennan's Birthday!

Our big boy is now 4, wow how the time has flown. He was so excited for his birthday and all of the fun presents he got. Because we are farther away from family this year, it was just a small celebration with the 4 of us. I am not sure that he even cared who was there, he was just excited to open the packages he received from "gramma sweetheart." He got a "Rocket Fishing Rod" which he has been asking for since at least 8 months ago. He also got a "transformer called StarScream" as he puts it and a Montana Grizzlies sweatshirt, to match the one his dad got for his birthday. Ryan and I got him a remote control truck and he chose spaghetti and french bread as his birthday dinner. He got a card from Donnis at Ryan's office with 4 whole dollars in it. I think he liked that just as much as his toys. Thanks to everyone for all the phone calls, cards and presents that made his day so special.

Brennan's First Day!

Well, today Brennan started Preschool. I think it was harder on us than it was on him. He was so excited to go and when he got there he didn't enjoy the picture taking anymore. He ran right into his classroom and got into his cubby for his name tag. Then, he decided that the teacher, Mrs. Harsey deserved a big hug. He was great and waved us out the door. He immediately set up the train depot for Thomas the train. He still hasn' t told us what they did all day, but I know eventually we will get it out of him. He keeps saying it is a "Secret." I know that they do some great things there, I just don't know what yet. I know they read a story, have math and science time, art, and do some home-living (small play kitchen).
I just can' t believe he is almost 4 years old, it truly seems like just yesterday that I made the phone call to everyone saying that my water had broken. The time has flown and he is just amazing. He is so smart and is reading words everyday. He reads everything now. He sounds it out the best he can, but he gets about 90% of them right. I don't know what I would do without my Brennan. He is such a joy to us and a terrific big brother.

Labor Day Continued

Labor Day Weekend!

This week has been a complete whirlwind. Pam (Ryan's Mom) flew into town a week ago Friday, and has had a blast with the kids and vice versa. They have been helping her pull weeds and playing outside, going for walks and playing "school." Brennan sets up a little classroom and Peyton and Pam are the students. Brennan calls them up to the front of the class to do different things such as sing their favorite song.

This week was also Ryan's Birthday. He is the big 33. It was fun to celebrate and to have his mom here. Ryan is not a big fan of cake, so I made both a Banana Cream Pie and a Lemon Meringue Pie. I was feeling very ambitious. I have made pies before, but had never attempted a Lemon Meringue from scratch. I must say it turned out quite well and got rave reviews from the family.

We also went down to the parents for Labor Day. We had a great time, we swam all day and had a barbecue. Here are some pics from our day.

Stay tuned. Brennan starts preschool tomorrow.
